Move to More

Never in her wildest dreams did Sahra imagine she would be raising her family on a working farm near Burragate on the New South Wales’ far South Coast. Fifty minutes south of Bega, Sahra, who grew up predominately in Sydney and later Brisbane, says she had “never, ever heard” of the region she now calls home.

Her Canberra

Further inland and tucked away in the grassy hills of Burragate lies The Woolshed, an intimate long-table lunch experience like no other. This hidden treasure is a beautiful 40-minute drive from Merimbula, where with limited reception, you are given a wonderful opportunity to disconnect and reconnect with yourself and the individuals dining alongside you.

Over three hours of lunching, three scrumptious courses were served, made from fresh produce, lamb raised on the property, and ingredients sourced from local suppliers. Even now looking back on it I struggle to find the words to describe how divine this meal was! Sahra,  the beautiful mind behind The Woolshed concept, had designed a spring menu that was the perfect balance of light but filling, sweet and salty, and fresh and well-cooked.

The Wool Shed is the culmination of years of food and farming experience between Sahra and Hamish - a dream envisioned, transforming an old shearing shed on their Burragate property into a multipurpose venue.
